Just wondered if anyone on here is using a HA compatible one.
Zigbee or Z-Wave would be fine.
Unfortunately, the controllers I got with the main control unit are Heatmiser.
They use Zigbee, but the manufacturer’s own implementation which requires buying and running a proprietary hub (and sod that!)
Rather annoyingly, the controllers are pretty functional!
The manifold wiring centre itself (UH4) just works by connecting 240v lines, so shouldn’t be too hard to have HA connecting the right loops at the right time.

I’ve considered just doing this with shelly relays and setting up a thermostat in HA, so if anyone has homebrewed an interesting solution, I’d also be interested to hear!

The field for this is kind of open. The interface to floor heating units is generally compatible with the standard for specific countries. In the US they have an interface to work with general thermostats, and the same in most places. So you SHOULD just be able to get a multi zone thermostat that’s compatible with whatever you want and be able to hook it into the system you choose. Obviously confirm with the manufacturer before buying anything.

I’m using Z-TRM3 by Heatit for a part of our floor heating. The controlling itself works just fine, but I’ve seen a bit of interference on z-wave network after installing that and also there’s an annoying feature that you can’t manually control the heater if you turn it off from z-wave (I want that my devices can function as dumb ones if needed). So, not an answer to your question, but based on that one single unit I wouldn’t recommend that, even if it’s decently priced and looks pretty good on paper.

      That’s indeed useful information!
My boiler control for the central heating has the very useful function of a 30 minute button.
Which means even if I torpedoed HA in the middle of winter, I could still get the house warm.

Im doing this with esphome, i replaced the thermostats with dht22 sensors and wired the valves via solid state relays (one for each zone) to the esp. Im using an esp with ethernet (wt32-eth01 clone), but wifi can work, if you can place it outside of the metal box of the heating system.

For control you can use a pid controller. I think there are some, which can run directly on the esp if everything is connected to the same esp.

Note: Dont use dht22 in the bathroom, it will slowly get less accurate when exposed to high humidity. Running the onewire of the sensors straight through existing 5 conductor thermostat wire/1.5mm^2 wire works reliably

Have a look at the LinkedGo wall thermostats. They have Shelly chips inside so rock solid and great compatibility with HA.
