Is getting forklift certified really as easy as taking a 1 hour online course? That seems… suspiciously simple.

Theyre not that hard to operate. Certificates depend on the company youre working for, they usually have their own qualifications. There isn’t a universal “forklift drivers license” afaik.

I worked the counter at an electrical supply house for a while and learned how to use it when I was bored, just take your time and pay attention. Have someone around who’s experienced. It’s not rocket science.

Mine was like: these are the controls. The test was: pick up this pallet, put it on this shipping crate, okay now take it down. CONGRATS YOU’RE CERTIFIED.

The training basically boils down to: “don’t overload the lift, make sure you understand The Triangle, safety checks.”
Then you get a hands-on training sesh with someone whonis certified to do so.
      Suuuuuper easy.

Here in Germany, it certainly isn’t. You need to take like a dozen theory lessons and then a test…

I haven’t actually taken such a course, but I imagine it’s stuff like how much you’re allowed to load, how to secure it, on what surfaces you can drive etc…

i’m kinda interested in taking it just because you get to watch fun forklift videos, but i’m pretty sure i can watch those without taking a course

Yeah but if you’re lucky they’ll show you this video during the training.

That’s a hell of a forklift. The one in the picture looks like a 5,000 pound warehouse forklift. 50,000 pounds is going to be more like this.
