You can’t be center-right or centre-left, they are used casually but there is no center, if someone claims to be in center chances are they learn far far heavy towards the right, heck even the things people consider left wing aren’t actually as left as they are perceived, nominally leftist figures like Sam Seder are like perceived as Stalin while they decry the most basic concession given by the ruling class in form of milquetoast DEI initiatives. We need to fight, I say more assassinations should have happened by now. It’s weird, in the UK there was a very popular trans character 30 years ago in one of the biggest soaps. I don’t remember there being any intense outcry about it, she was in the show for 15 years. The casting was lacking sensitivity (cis woman cast in the role) but I think it’s generally felt the role was sensitively portrayed (any trans folks step in to tell me I’m wrong here).
I see people now getting all worked up about trans people now who liked/ supported the character years ago (it’s hard to convey how much these soaps impacted UK life 30 odd years ago, we’re talking front page news campaigning to free a jailed character/the Prime Minister making comment on it kinda thing). I’m not commenting that things are better or worse for trans people now, just that this one thing always strikes me as odd.
Also lots of things were common in Germany 80-90 years ago, I’m not sure that justification works at all.
I remember Nadia winning Big Brother and we all coped just fine. I even remember people saying she was the sensible choice because the more ott characters were voted off too early that year.

Honestly I think it’s just people being told what to think and employing zero critical thinking. Take the migrants in hotels thing in the UK. “They’re putting immigrants up in hotels” on the surface of it I can totally see why that annoys people who are struggling. “Why should they stay in a hotel and I’m getting things tight” is a valid enough question for someone hard up and skipping meals to feed the kids to ask. The agitators use that as a base. The reality is there’s a ton of asylum seekers needing housed because the previous government stopped processing them to make it look like the immigration numbers had gone down, turns out putting them in hotels is the cheapest option to clear the backlog.
I could rant for hours. It pisses me off no end.
Arguably one of the worst of things the right has done was convince the people that workers rights, trans rights, etc. are bad.

Speech is not violent by itself.
It is violent only because of a system that perpetuates or can perpetuate the ideals in that speech. The speech is only the verbal manifestation of a system that enables the violence in the first place. Otherwise it is just a crazy man speaking to himself. If there is an audience that resonates with those ideals, it is because that narrative provides the license for their bigotry; an explotative relationship with the “other” that they perceive to materially gain from.
The material always comes before the idea.
That does not mean the person behind the speech is not part of the violence or not an enabler of the violence or is absolved of the violence.
I am not, however, a free speech absolutist. Censorship will exist in every society, we must designate who that censorship is in favour of.
This may then sound like a caution against adventurism? Maybe, maybe we do need to be tackling the material that enables the idea but it must be noted adventurism is highly likely to happen regardless of how we feel in these trying times. It is then up to the astute ML to use the potential cataclysm to their advantage. Let these fascists be afraid.

If you cannot make this case, then forget about convincing the person in question. Focus instead on finding other people to whom such a case can be made. This will lead you directly to class analysis.

The only way for it to be persecuted is to be defederated from other instances (e.g. Lemmy.World), but nobody cares. Defederation only blocks the flow of information between instances, it doesn’t take the instance down.
