"Woke is an adjective derived from African-American Vernacular English (AAVE) meaning “alert to racial prejudice and discrimination”.
But yeah, that usually comes along with not being a jerk to people.
My friend said some stuff about “wokeness” the other day but when I explained the origin (which I described as simply being aware of the many injustices of the system) he paused and said, “…shit, I guess I’m woke”
