I can’t wait for the press to join in the confusion:
“What was it like to play Nintendo’s famous elf swordsman, Zelda?”
“I played Link.”
“What’s a link?”
Saw their pictures without reading it and my first thought was “oh look they are making Bridge to Terabithia again”
Edit: a funny typo
“Bride to Terabithia”
Dammit that’s what I get for trying to post while going through the drive-thru
I was sure that Nintendo would do kore movies after the success of the Mario one.
My bet was on either Zelda or Metroid, as their universe feels good for a movie storyline.
I didn’t expect a live action at all though and would have bet on an animated movie, I’m honestly not sure how I feel about that choice.
Kid-me would have been crazy about it, but I can’t help to be doubtful about a live action.
Kid better start refining his “heeeYA”s and “KIYA”s.
Cautiously optimistic about these choices. Very glad that they’re relatively unknown.
Where is that social platform post from, if you don’t mind?
Twitter/X. If you’re looking for a direct link without having to log in: https://xcancel.com/Nintendo/status/1945433161124688335
Ah okay, thanks! Shame they’re still on X. I deleted my account earlier this year. Are Nintendo on Bluesky or something else, mirroring their X account?
I am a fan.
I like the choice for Zelda, but Link’s face seems a little square for that character. He is almost always shown with an angular jaw and pointy chin.
The oldest games have cartoony manual art with exaggerated characteristics. The N64 games were limited to few polygons. Most of the games since then depict an older Link.
There isn’t really a good source for comparison except the later Smash Bros depictions of Young Link, whose face is quite round.
I’m still going to see the movie, I was just speaking to my gut reaction looking at the above photos.
Who tf these youngins
