Ohh man, ik respecteerde Mark al, maar nu nóg meer. Die heerlijke nuchtere “uhh, wat praat deze gast?” blikken… xD

Edit: Pardon my French, I’ll rephrase for our Dutch-stunted fellow lemmings:

Ohh man, I already respected Mark, but even more so now. That lovely sober “Uhh, what the hell is this guy saying” look around… xD

Addendum: A true communication specialist. We sent the best of the generation: Teflon Mark!

The next time Trump tells anyone to stop talking about Epstein, someone needs to tell him that he needs to shut the fuck up about Biden first. For fuck’s sake.

Nobody will do that. Everyone involved in his administration is either a cult member or an opportunistic scumbag. He will be conveniently replaced by somebody more insidious and competent once the machinery of USA democracy and benevolent government have been dismantled and a successor chosen.

I get actual reporting can be boring and dull. That doesn’t mean we have to start our own newmax or breitbart. It will be only a matter of time until we get some crazy ass left wing nut as a result.

Defeating lies/exaggerations can only be done with knowledge and truth. Please do better with the news sources. This feels more like AI left-wing grifters.

Term limits have been implemented in many places and have not achieved better governance anywhere. They’re another “obvious” solution that isn’t worth shit in practice, like multi-party versus two-party electoral systems.

And age limits are just anti-democratic. I know a few old farts who are better qualitified to hold office than their younger rivals. Voters should choose, not some arbitrary rule.

I think it would be great if we set the age limit to be tied to a percentage of the average expected lifespan of the country’s citizens in some way. Setting a hard age limit wouldn’t be adaptive enough.

It would incentivize them to pass legislation and regulations which help increase everyone’s life expectancy. It would also somewhat help in the case of a future where some medical advances allow only those with enough money to have insanely increased lifespans.

We should tie a mandatory government retirement age to Medicare or social security eligibility so there’s some pressure to keep it below 80.

I mean, the President and Executive have two separate and independent, third parties who are responsible for checks and balances against them, and look where that’s gotten us.

        They’re all corruptible.

Term limits for legislative bodies is, and always has been, a dumb idea.

You need a constitutional amendment to impose age limits on offices.

This is the electorate’s fault; the electorate needs to fix it.

I mean, it prevents people pursuing political positions as a permanent job. Which is how corruption happens.

It’s much easier to pay off a permanant term SC judge with a “gift” of a Bus than it is to approach a newly appointed one with the same idea.

Term limits unquestionably help in eliminating corruption as it guarantees corruption is not only harder to accomplish the first time, but is flushed away with the end of each term.

Corruption happens when people have their footing in politics long enough to tear at the seams. They can’t do that if they never find their footing.

That’s not true. People who are politicians for life have incentives to not be corrupt since it can end their career. A term limited politician has an incentive to trade favors for an executive position after their last term.

People who are politicians for life have incentives to not be corrupt since it can end their career.

No offense, this is an incredibly naive take that is easily disproven by the current US president and the decades of documented corruption he’s practiced in the open that did done nothing to falter his career. He has 34 felonies. He was going to trial for the largest breach of US intelligence in the history of our country.

He was then elected president anyway.

Social media has made the concept of political accountability into an impossibility. Any “career-ending” behavior can just be lied about on social media, turned into a firehouse of disinfo, then bots & supporters eat it up.

Without term limits, people just need to be popular enough to get elected once - then they can use their position for personal gain for as long as they can lie about it in some way. (Forever with AI now).

I could gesture in any direction in the world and end up pointing to a country this is happening to right now.

Term limits ensures that you always have a new incompetence congress finding their footing before being replaced by new newbies forever out of step.

Also it can simultaneously be true that term limits increase corruption and we at present are fully incapable of reigning in corruption of any kind because we are bad immoral people on average. Your position is like arguing that cigs don’t kill you because your presently already dying of liver cancer right now.

Nope. My position is quite literally that we should limit the amount of cigarettes we smoke so we don’t develop cancer.

                Maybe a pack a week?

Or a single 12 year term for each Supreme Court justice?

As proof I’ve simply pointed to how we have completely failed to limit terms in the Supreme Court and now very much have fascist cancer because of it. (Supreme Court going full MAGA and ignoring due process).

You are making this much harder to understand than it needs to be.

Incumbents aren’t to blame for voters picking the familiar, that’s a symptom of another problem.

We’re seeing what an inexperienced government looks like now. They don’t know the limitations they’re supposed to have, and they don’t care.

But, are all dumb guys who do dumb things, doing dumb things at this moment because of our predisposed bias against that dumb guy? If a man from Florida does something awkward, is he a ‘Florida Man’? “Trump Bad”, but that’s not necessarily because of this incident though. This incident isn’t a good reflection of anything other than Trump is just being awkward Trump in front of a group and camera.

We need to separate “Trump Bad” from ‘everything dumb he says’, and keep our eyes and voices targeted toward his human rights violations, unconstitutional behavior and corruption.

Just because he’s ’Florida man’ sometimes, doesn’t mean everything he does is ‘Florida Man.’ Keep your eyes on the ball and don’t get roped into sensational headlines.

And I have to tell you, Europe has a lot of spirit for this war. A lot of people, you know, when I first got involved, I really didn’t think they did, but they do. And I saw that a month ago when you were there, most of you many of you were there. The level of esprit de corps spirit that they have is amazing.

This shouldn’t be a bar lowering item to begin with. These or dumb human things, which we all are or do sometimes. The words here really shouldn’t be worth pointing at the guy and laughing about. It’s barely worth me even saying anything about here. Only slightly more worth my time is seeing if I can snap 1 or 2 people out of stooping so low to mock the guy for being human… that they’re missing more important and glaring issues.
