It is the hypocrisy of liberalism since its inception. All men are equal, but some men are more equal than others. Men have rights, but women don’t.

IMO, it should mean a commitment to liberty and justice for all. Meaning all.

In the name of equality and peace, I pledge allegiance to the Killing People and Making Them Slaves and Taking Their Stuff Flag, and the equally wordy Republic for which it stands

From before we added “under god”

If I am ever a congressman I am going to get rid of that

Why stop there? The pledge is super weird

Do American kids actually recite an oath to their country EVERY DAY? I keep hearing about that everywhere but it kinds of blows my mind to much for me to accept it as fact.

For context, I went to elementary school in China before I came to Canada, and in both countries the most we’ve done is sing the national anthem during assemblies.

Yes, I grew up doing “The Pledge of Allegiance” daily. Through some court cases students won the right to abstain, but I don’t know if I’ve ever seen it. You would make yourself into an outsider immediately

I grew up doing it, but my kids in elementary and middle school don’t. It’s changed.
