It’s kind of infuriating how the EU can make some of the most incredible rules that actually benefit society, and at the same time make the worst possible decisions in other areas. 😮💨
How many times did they try to do this now?
It kind of feels like a kids cartoon now, where the bad guys constantly fail every episode.
Sure, if all politicians make all their data available to the public. Their phone chat messages, photos taken, everything.
No…? Then don’t bring it up ever again. Initiatives like these will only make it look like you’re a villain if you want privacy.
You don’t understand. They will only use it for good, to protect the children. You want the children to be safe, don’t you?
From them, yes.
“Turns out we need to install a government issued CCTV camera in your bathroom, bedroom, every room of your house… otherwise how do we know you’re not diddling kids in there”
Meanwhile Epstein didn’t kill himself, and most of his friends were our current political class, and the oligarchs who own them.
CCTV camera in your bathroom
Check ya azzhole
Stop Killing Privacy campaign?
I’m sure we can trust the police to be responsible with this power… https://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/news/2025/04/former-police-officer-sentenced-after-admitting-stalking-charge/
In Poland we can’t even trust the police to be responsible for their own safety (a officer used a grande launcher in his office), or even the millitary to handle logistics (landmines got delivered to ikea)
Amazing level of incompetence, the launcher thing.
Unpack, assemble, load, disengage safety, fire…
If it was stored loaded I guess half the incompetence is on the next guy.
I remember hearing the officier in question ‘thought it was a blutooth speaker’ but it might have been just a rumor or I’m remembering wrong (I hope so atleast)
Abuse of databases happen also in Germany: https://www.fr.de/panorama/hessen-beamte-missbrauchen-polizeisystem-infos-ueber-helene-fischer-kommen-zr-12875917.html
This is just another reason to self-host what you can.
Want access to my data? Warrant, please. And sign this NDA.
Why this much hassle if they can simply confiscate every electronic item in your house?
They want everyone’s private data to be accessible and actionable. It’s not even about avoiding the hassle. It’s about you not being able to avoid them.
Now, think about how much they could use this to crush dissidence and prevent assemblies of protests or worse, jail people because they criticise the government.
I got nothing to hide. By today’s standards. If it changes, and criticising my country’s government becomes a legal offense, then I would be a criminal. So would most people I know.
This is about control. Surveillance is always about control. It’s disguised as a necessity through the paranoia that those in power help veiling over us.
Confiscate, with a warrant. And signing an NDA.
I wonder if I will still be alive when this whole “security” bullshit finally implodes
They probably want to start introducing an encryption called “AES-lawful”, which is SUPER SAFE (but law enforcement has access of course…).
Well, as long as other algorithms are not forbidden, I will continue using them.
When it comes to chat control, we will have to setup own matrix servers (or something similar).
This whole “Going dark”-thing is bullshit.
