Online influencers such as Andrew Tate are fuelling an increase in sexism in the classroom, says a new survey from education union the NASUWT. It comes after the Netflix series Adolescence thrust concerns around incel culture into the spotlight.

People just keep joining these values: stand up for the wealthy, stand up for the bullies, stand up for the most aggressive, stand up for anti-education, stand up for men dominating women, stand-up for mass dehumanization communications content.

I see people of age 21 to 91 imitate and admire Donald Trump, Tucker Carlson, Rupert Murdoch, Rush Limbaugh, Alex Jones and Elon Musk in their mass dehumanization. I see people flock to and imitate terrible behaviors in the Middle East and Russia. This problem of dehumanizing the other and attacking women goes on with the Taliban and Afghanistan and Pakistan, leaders in Iran and many other places.
I do not see people standing up to all hate. We just rotate between colors and flavors and brand-names of hate. People refuse to face up to the equations of World War Two that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr spelled out in 1954 after analyzing the world wars.
All hate is bad. Even if you program a machine to do the hate for you and you are dead, the hate is still bad. We just can’t accept the eternal truth in that equation and we can’t educate each other to stop worshiping hate. People keep hate on hand, can’t wait until it is revenge and payback time, and always their deepest answer to the most difficult problems, hate harder.

It’d be interesting to see if the girls responded in kind, or refused to talk to males of any age. Looks like a fantastic way to make the birth replenishment rate eventually hit 0.004 real fast!
Hmm, the phenomenon of men refusing to acknowledge or speak to women reminds me of the culture of many Islamic countries. What’s the birth rate there? Is it 0.004?
As best I remember, the standard birth replenishment rate for any country should be 2.1. As in every able woman should be averaging 2.1* children.
*Number based on memory, could be different to a wide degree. Take with a shaker of salt.
There’s just a lack of good role models out there for kids, especially on social media. If one is unlucky enough to be born in an environment where “Tateism” might “make sense” (like bring sheltered, not having friendly interactions with girls or having masculinity drilled into you by parents), then the narratives the manosphere provides can become very compelling.
At the same time, kids are always up to stupid shit so it’s possible that this is just some edgy phase one can overcome with life experience.
There are plenty of good role models, but there is no incentive for young people to seek them.
Since social media is driven by “engagement” and these people weaponize it to their advantage. And the companies behind them promote these garbage to keep people on their app longer doesn’t help.
Social media isn’t the answer. Less of it could be better for everyone.
Pretty much, it all comes down about what maximizes user’s time on the platform so they can see the maximum amount of ads and produce the most amount of unpaid labor in the form of comments/content.
Social media can be good though if a creator is genuinely a positive role model that a teen otherwise wouldn’t have due to their environment (speaking from experience), but given this focus on profit rather than positive social change and connection, it just ends up being hateful shit most of the time.
